Accelerating diversity in Tech: the T-EDI Standards platform
We partnered with T-EDI Standards to design and build a platform that will drive the adoption of equity, diversity and inclusion standards in the technology sector
How might we
design and build a platform which drives the adoption of equity, diversity and inclusion standards in the technology sector, within a two month timeframe?
Building a certification platform to empower women in STEM
In a rapid-fire, two-month sprint, our team partnered with Project F to develop and launch a groundbreaking certification platform focused on driving equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the technology sector. This ambitious project, centered around the T-EDI Standards, aimed to create a powerful tool for organisations to benchmark and track their progress towards achieving meaningful change and empowering women in STEM.
Our close collaboration with the founder enabled us to navigate rapid development cycles effectively while maintaining a strong focus on user needs and social impact. By prioritising clear communication, agile methodologies, and a laser focus on essential features, we successfully delivered a high-quality product within a tight timeframe.
I found it incredibly valuable to have such a clear line of sight of progress, issues and plans throughout the project. The continuous dialogue made the process feel ‘safe’
Rapid go to market
We designed, built and launched a fully functional platform in just two months, helping Project F get their initiative off the ground quickly.
Human centered design
We kept our focus on building features that users actually need, ensuring the platform makes a real difference for women in tech.
Agile and adaptable process
Our agile approach helped us stay flexible and responsive to changes, delivering value every step of the way.
Open and collaborative
Our team worked closely with the founder, keeping communication lines open and ensuring everyone was on the same page throughout the project.
A journey full of learnings
Along the way, we learned some valuable lessons
Communicating clearly and often to reduce ambiguity and increase alignment
Adopting the SCRUM methodology with a bit of flexibility, we had scheduled events which enabled both the Everest team and Project F team to have regular touch points to communicate progress, questions and blockers. This also helped us stay aligned with both expectations and delivery timelines.
Learning to communicate effort
Instead of talking about what's possible, we now discuss things in terms of effort. This shift helps set clearer expectations and improves collaboration between technical and non-technical teams
Onion analogy for requirements
We started with high-level features, but as we developed, deeper layers emerged. Whilst this isn’t a new concept, we learned that documenting key assumptions, questions or requirements (in the form of a MoSCoW) during the earlier exploratory sessions would have saved time later.
North star vs MVP
With a lot to cover in such a short timeline, we worked hard at slicing features thinly and prioritising based on user experience and high customer impact. By keeping a bank of the future-state or “north star” features, we were then able to focus on the steps or “slices” that we could confidently deliver whilst maintaining a high quality for the MVP.
The power of teamwork: delivering high-impact results
From initial discovery to development, we continuously refined the product, peeling back layers of complexity to ensure we captured every key detail, and T-EDI Standards grew into a platform that wasn’t just functional but truly aligned with the needs of the users.
Constant communication and feedback loops helped us stay adaptable, making sure we delivered a product that was both high quality and ready for future iterations. Ultimately, it was our team's ability to balance speed with precision that enabled us to produce an MVP that exceeded expectations, setting the stage for ongoing development and enhancements.
Result
We delivered a powerful, user-friendly platform in just two months – right on time and budget. But it was more than just hitting deadlines; the final product truly exceeded expectations, setting the stage for future growth and exciting new features. Most importantly, this platform is now actively helping organisations break down barriers and create more inclusive environments for women in tech. It's a testament to the impact that's possible when dedicated teams collaborate to achieve a shared vision for positive change.
